The State Government has taken various steps for improvement of social sector of the State through modified social infrastructure development programme for the development of deprived communities and to increase Human Development Index. State Government has signed MoU with UNDP and Planning Commission to implement UNDP sponsored project “Strengthening State Plans for Human Development”. For the implementation of the project, Government has established “Gujarat Social Infrastructure Development Society (GSIDS)” on 12th April, 2007 and Directorate of Human Development on 17th February, 2007.

It is planned to take up studies to improve Human Development Index and overall development of the common man through implementation of the social infrastructure development programmes like Health, Education, Woman & Child Development, Labour welfare, Environment, Water Supply & Sanitation, Social welfare, Rural Housing, Cottage Industries etc. As a part of these, the State Government initiated the process to prepare District Human Development Report (DHDR). Five districts were selected in first phase. Which includes Sabarkantha, Surendranagar, Jamnagar, Dangs and Surat. The draft reports for respective districts are under finalization stage. In second phase another five districts viz. Tapi, Bharuch, Panchmahal, Kheda and Banaskantha has been selected for preparation of DHDR. Work has been started through Universities and Research Institutes of the State.

  • would have long healthy life
  • would acquired education and skill
  • would get proper source of livelihood for these Government has taken various initiatives.

The State Government has taken various efforts so as the benefits of all the development programmes and services pertaining to Human Development reaches to target groups. In this regards, special attention has been given on Sagarkhedu Sarvangi Vikas Yojana, Vanbandhu Kalyan Yojana and Developing Talukas. As a result of all these efforts Human Development Index of the State will be improve.
